Project Description
The goal of the M-U-TC Zone is to promote reinvestment and redevelopment opportunities in older established commercial areas, particularly inside the Beltway. The City of Mount Rainier made a request to the Planning Board to revisit and update the 1994
Approved Mount Rainier Mixed-Use Town Center (M-U-TC) Zone Development Plan in order to take into account current economic/market conditions and also provide revised development policies and design standards. This will help property owners and tenants improve their properties in an effort to revitalize the commercial core of the City of Mount Rainier.
Project Area
The City of Mount Rainier Mixed-Use Town Center (M-U-TC) Zone Development Plan is located in
Planning Area 68. The M-U-TC Zone Development plan area is approximately 11.46 acres. The project area generally encompasses the buildings along the Rhode Island Avenue corridor from the District line at Eastern Avenue to the traffic circle at 34th Street and the building frontages along 34th Street from Bunker Hill Road to just below Rhode Island Avenue.
